Description: (Sunset Zone 1-9,14-19,32,34,36-45, USDA Zone 4). Classic and most used larch for bonsai. Slower growing and more refined than European larch. Bright yellow fall color follows blue green summer needles. Will cone regularly on older plants. Remove wire before tree begins to swell growth around it.
Basic Care: Grows best in full sun. Protect from full exposure in hot climates. Protect roots from hard freezing in winter. Larch loose their needles in the fall-do not think it is dead and throw it out!
Feeding: Fertilize just before and during growing season until autumn. Many brands of fertilizer are available and it is beneficial to use a variety of these. Follow all package instructions.
Repotting: Like all larches, this species resents being pot-bound. Repot in early spring before buds show green, never after needle appear.
